AfroBuddha School of Yoga & Meditation

In July 2017, we opened our doors of the beautiful AfroBuddha School of Yoga & Meditation in Bloubergrant, Cape Town. We welcome you to this space to join us for a yoga class, sound meditation. special events and more.

Ashtanga Yoga:

This is a powerful and playful flowing yoga practice, which focusses on the synchronisation of movement and breath. Ashtanga yoga creates heat in the body and strengthens the body while stilling the mind.

Restorative Yoga:

This class can be described as a moving meditation on the different parts of our body in perfect synchronisation with the breath. We move in a very slow, gentle and conscious way to release stress and tensions and to regenerate our whole being (body, mind & soul). Everyone is able to attend this class!

Vinyasa Flow:

In this class we flow in a playful way through yoga poses, energizing the body and detoxifying it by creating heat in the body. Body, mind, and breath move together in perfect harmony.

Yin Vinyasa:

This class combines the relaxing and stretching principles of Yin Yoga with the playful and energizing aspects of a Vinyasa Flow practice. It focusses on creating deep body experiences and supports a letting go of old trauma and patterns that we carry in our physical body.

Vinyasa Flow:

In this class we flow in a playful way through yoga poses, energizing the body and detoxifying it by creating heat in the body. Body, mind, and breath move together in perfect harmony.

Silent Yoga Practise (Ashtanga based):

This practice of yoga in silence gives you the opportunity to turn your awareness fully to your breath and body sensations, without being distracted by the teacher’s voice and instructions. It is a very deep and meditative experience. This turning inwards toward is essential for feeling and listening inside. If we start to feel the most subtle physical and energetic sensations, release, purification, and transformation are happening. Everyone who has practiced Ashtanga before is welcome to join. You’ll be guided by the teacher’s movements.

Fees

  • Drop in: R 100
  • 10 classes: R 820 (valid for 3 months)
  • 2 classes per week (monthly): R 500
  • 1 month unlimited: R 650

MIRJA’S YOGA PATH

I started on my path of teaching yoga in 2010 with a 240 Hour Ashtanga Primary Series Teacher Training with Jim Harrington in Cape Town.

Since then, I continuously deepen my knowledge of yoga by attending workshops by local and international teachers, as well as self-study and self-practise.

In 2012, I completed a 200 Hour Master Teacher Training course in Yoga Therapy with Vivek B. Gaur in Rishikesh, India.

This deepened my understanding of yoga as a healing tool for body, mind and soul.

I commenced my Advanced Teacher Training with Shimon Ben Avi in 2016, and have completed three of the four modules. Being in the presence of an advanced teacher like Shimon, purifies your body & mind, raises your frequency of energy and lifts your consciousness to a higher state.
